Kia Ora. The next biennial International Winds Workshop, the 11th of the series, is being held at the University of Auckland in New Zealand in February. We are hoping to see many old and new colleagues here, taking advantage perhaps of our superb climate at that time of the year (especially for those escaping from the Northern Hemisphere). February is our driest month (but the precip. averages 65 mm for that month, so bring a light rainjacket), the average high is 23.7°C, the average low 15.8°C, with an average 201 sunshine hours, all according to NIWA. You may be surprised at how clear the air is here, so do bring some sunblock with you.
While we cannot guarantee lots of local wind for the workshop, I expect this will be compensated by much in the way of stimulating discussions.
We look forward to welcoming you to New Zealand in 2012.
Best,
Roger
